I walked by the Roxbury Crossing bus stop almost daily while living in Boston, but never saw people interacting while there; they were on their phones, reading a book, had headphones in, or just standing there silently. I wanted to engage the community by starting with this one bus stop.
For this project, I walked around the location and asked people who lived in the area if I could take their portrait. I then created a banner to replace the old one with their portraits, with text encouraging locals to talk to one another in multiple languages. I also included blank spaces with mirrors to allow someone walking by to feel included in the wall of portraits.
